Lakeland Runs Away With Early Lead in Victory

Milford Mavericks Varsity fell behind early and couldn't come back in an 18-5 loss to Lakeland on Thursday. Lakeland scored on a double by Sophia Shaw, an error, a double by Summer Ambler, a double by Dostal, and a walk by Caitlyn Johnson in the first inning.

The Milford Mavericks Varsity struggled to contain the high-powered offense of Lakeland, giving up 18 runs.

In the first inning, Lakeland got their offense started when Shaw doubled on a 2-1 count, scoring two runs.

Ambler was credited with the victory for Lakeland. She lasted five innings, allowing six hits and five runs while striking out three.

Jenna Carlisle took the loss for Milford Mavericks Varsity. She lasted two-thirds of an inning, allowing five hits and eight runs while striking out two and walking one.

Milford Mavericks Varsity hit one home run on the day. Amelia Price had a long ball in the fifth inning.

Price went 2-for-2 at the plate to lead Milford Mavericks Varsity in hits.

Lakeland collected 16 hits on the day. Ambler, Alyssa Younker, and Dostal each collected multiple hits for Lakeland. Ambler led Lakeland with four hits in five at bats.
