Milford Mavericks Varsity Takes Early Lead in Victory Over South Lyon East
Milford Mavericks Varsity jumped out to an early lead over South Lyon East and took home a 6-2 victory on Tuesday. Milford Mavericks Varsity scored on a single by Taylor Mitchell, a single by Sammy Knapp, and a single by Lauren Carrannanto in the second inning.
Milford Mavericks Varsity pulled away for good with three runs in the second inning. In the second Mitchell singled on a 2-0 count, scoring one run, Knapp singled on the first pitch of the at bat, scoring one run, and Carrannanto singled on a 2-2 count, scoring one run.
Jenna Carlisle took the win for Milford Mavericks Varsity. She allowed five hits and two runs over seven innings, striking out two.
Jennifer Hartman took the loss for South Lyon East. She lasted two and two-thirds innings, allowing ten hits and five runs while striking out three and walking zero.
Milford Mavericks Varsity hit one home run on the day. Amelia Price had a dinger in the sixth inning.  Price now has 9 homers and 45 RBI on season.
Milford Mavericks Varsity racked up 16 hits. Devon Beale, Knapp, Mitchell, Carrannanto, and Lauren Laughrey all managed multiple hits for Milford Mavericks Varsity. Beale led Milford Mavericks Varsity with four hits in five at bats.
Lauren Sciborski went 2-for-4 at the plate to lead South Lyon East in hits.
