CRANBROOK KINGSWOOD SCHOOLS: 7

The Mavericks lost 7-0 Friday night, but battled valiantly against the highly ranked and heavily favored perennial powerhouse Cranbrook Kingswood, in the first round of the State Playoffs, ending Milford's (13-13) season.

The Cranes scored three times in the first five minutes of the game and took a 4-0 lead after one period and led 7-0 after two periods, but the Mavs were able to avoid the dreaded mercy (eight goal differential) by playing Cranbrook to a 0-0 third period tie.

Milford's four graduating Seniors, Ben Kozar, Tyler Tori, Tristan Ingram-Reeve and Tyler Kerr all played arguably their best games of the year, while their leadership helped keep the Mavs focused, competitive and combative right up until the final horn, despite the lopsided score.

Tendy Kerr finished with 37 saves, including a few incredible, body torquing blocks to fend off the mercy, while the Cranes' Noah Goldberger had 18, including a couple Mav breakaways, for the shutout.

Milford Hockey would like to thank everybody for their support this season!  Our crowd was usually bigger and more boisterous every game, even the away games, and your boys really appreciate it.

Good luck to our hoops teams as they ready for Districts and Milford Cheer in their Regionals!

Thanks again and Go Mavs!
