The Mavericks outshot Farmington United (8-7-1), but had trouble solving United's talented tendy, Bryn Sommerfeldt, and ended up losing 6-2 Saturday night in Farmington.
Not only was Sommerfeldt a brick wall in net with 35 saves, he managed to score a goal with just over two minutes remaining while the Mavs had their goalie pulled for an extra attacker, a rare and nearly impossible feat.
Kazuma Bowring and Ben Kozar each scored for Milford (9-10), Pierce Ashcroft had two assists, and Mack Musialowski and Austin Combs had one.
Tyler Kerr and Harris Partyka shared the goaltending duties for the Mavs and combined for 20 saves.
The Mavs travel to Lakeland Wednesday for a 7:15 drop against Walled Lake Central/Waterford United.
