It was a rough start of the decade for the Mavs (9-5) Thursday night at Hartland as the Jackson Lumen Christi Titans (10-1) whitewashed Milford 3-0.

Senior Tyler Kerr continued his All-State caliber play for the Mavs as he made 41 saves on the night to give Milford a chance, but his counterpart Lucas Henderson was equally up to the task with 28 saves for the shutout.

The shutout was the fourth in a row for the well coached Titans.

The Mavs appeared to have drawn within two with 3:20 to go on a whizzing, board pad clearing wrister by Junior Kaz Bowring while the Mavs enjoyed 6 on 4 man advantage with a power play and Kerr pulled for the extra attacker, but the refs determined that the net was of its moorings prior to the puck going in and waved off the apparent goal.

Milford hosts defending league champ South Lyon Unified, the 17th ranked team in the State out of 139 Michigan high school hockey teams, this Saturday 4:30 at Hartland.  The contest has league implications as the Mavs hold second place and trail SLU by only one game.
