The Mavs stormed out of the gate, with Sophomore Austin Combs scoring twice in the first five minutes, his team leading ninth and tenth goals, but eventually succumbed to the undefeated Temperance Bedford Kicking Mules 5-2 Tuesday night at Hartland.

Seniors Keir Gillis and Connor Meadows and Junior Tristan Ingram-Reeve each had assists on Combs' goals, one of which was a power play.

Junior Tyler Kerr made 28 saves in net for Milford.

Milford was in control of the game in the first period before they lost offensive threat Junior Ben Kozar to a lower body injury that looks like will keep him out until mid-January.  The Mavs lost their momentum after watching Kozar being helped off of the ice but continued to battle to keep the game close.

The Mavs had a 5 on 3 power play advantage late in the third with a 4-2 deficit, but failed to capitalize.  The Kicking Mules iced the game with a short handed goal with five minutes to go giving them a three goal lead which was how it ended.

The Milford student section was crowded and boisterous, led by the mighty MavPack and fellow classmates, which helped the young Mavs battle through adversity.

Milford travels to Lakeland Saturday for an afternoon tilt against league foe the Walled Lake Northern Knights.
