The Mavs gave up five goals, including two empty netters, in the last six minutes of last night's tilt against defending LVC league champ South Lyon Unified, resulting in a 7-2 loss.
SLU scored two goals in the second period after a scoreless first to take a 2-0 lead. Milford responded with two power play goals of their own to tie it, Sophomore Josh Raya with his first as a Mav with assists to Sophomores Kaz Bowring and Austin Combs before Combs knotted it at two with assists to Junior Ben Kozar and Bowring.
Junior Tyler Kerr finished the night with 30 saves while giving the Mavs a shot at the upset.
Garrett Rutt led SLU with two goals and an assist.
"I think we turned the corner tonight," said Assistant Coach Troy Hewitt. "That was the best we've played all year."
The Mavs host the Temperance-Bedford Mules Thursday night, 7PM, at Hartland.
