Boys Varsity Ice Hockey

|Big Rapids High School||9|
The Mavs were overpowered by the Big Rapids Cardinals in their second game of the Soo Blue Devils Showcase, 9-1 Nov 17, in a Saturday afternoon tilt.
Despite the lobsided score, Milford starting goalie Tyler Kerr continued his stellar play, with 29 saves on 33 shots through the middle of the second. Freshmen goalie Harris Partyka relieved Kerr midway through the second for his first game action and Milford's other Freshmen tendy, Tyler Whitney, started the third period for his first taste of regular season Varsity Hockey.
Junior Ben Kozar scored the lone goal for the Mavs, with an assist from Senior Kevin Mozel.
"You got to bring it every game, or, before you know it, game over," said third year Milford Coach Gagnon. "This was a good lesson for us, shows us where we need to be."
The Mavs finished their Saturday bowling with their crosstown rivals, the Lakeland Eagles, at the Dondee Lanes in Sault Ste. Marie, before leaving Sunday morning to return home.
"It's always nice to show the guys what Junior hockey is all about, the bus ride, the tight quarters, the camaraderie, the discipline and compete level it takes to play on the road, and, more importantly, how much fun it is," said Milford Assistant Coach and Junior hockey veteran Ian Wiljanen after he rolled yet another strike at the Dondee.
