Boys Varsity Ice HockeyThe Mavs took a 3-0 lead early in the second period before ending up losing 5-3 to the determined Fenton-Linden Griffins Tuesday night in the first round of Regionals at Oak Park. Things were going well for Milford (14-12) until Senior Captain and leading scorer Jack Clickett went down with a lower body injury in the second. The short benched Mavs tried valiantly to hold on to the lead, but the Griffins (12-14) weren't going to be denied this night. Senior Ryan Okragly and Sophomore Will Fulton each had a goal and an assist, Sophomore Alex Kozar scored and Seniors Thomas Kennedy IV, Captain Shane Quinn and James Zielke had helpers, as did Freshmen Craig Borges. Junior Mav tendy Cooper Langley finished with 32 saves, while his Fenton-Linden counterpart Porter Lobocki had 40. On behalf of Mav Hockey, a humongous THANK YOU to our Parents, Student Section, Administration and Community for your support this year! And THANKS to o

Boys Varsity Ice HockeyThe Mavs beat the Walled Lake Northern Knights 5-4 in OT Saturday night at Lakeland. The Knights (10-10-2) played a physical, playoff-like, old school brand of hockey with a focus on containing Milford's leading scorer, Captain Jack Clickett, but Clicks played through the physicality on his way to two goals, including the OT winner, as he reached the 100 point milestone in his third season as a Mav! Milford led 2-0 after one period, before the Knight's Andrew Evans sniped a couple in the second to tie it at two after two. The Mavs took a 4-2 lead early in the third before Northern scored two goals in the last two minutes of the period, both with their goalie pulled, to send the game into the always exciting extra stanza. But Clickett and the Mavs were able to reenergize and regroup and pull out the W against the determined and well coached Knights as Captain Jack slammed home a rebound off a Will Fulton shot for the

Boys Varsity Ice HockeySenior Night was special as the Mavs upended South Lyon Unified, a hardworking club that had won six straight, 9-5, Tuesday night at Hartland. Senior Captain Jack Clickett was a force with three goals and three assists to give Captain Clicks 98 career total points in his third season as a Mav. Senior Ryan Okragly had two goals and a helper, Senior Captain Shane Quinn had three assists, Senior Thomas Kennedy IV had two assists, and Senior James Zielke scored on a nice deflection early in the third. The only Senior not to register a point on Senior Night was Joe 'Hollywood' Meagher, but 'Hollywood' went one step better by dueting the National Anthem with friend Vivien Lakin in one of the better live renditions you'll hear at any level. Will Fulton scored two, Craig Borges had one, which turned out to be the game winner late in the second, Steven Vujic had two assists and Alex Kozar one to complete the scor

Boys Varsity Ice HockeyThe Lakeland Eagles (17-2) clinched the LVC Championship with a 4-0 whitewashing of the Mavs Wednesday night at Hartland. Milford (12-9) was outcoached, outdisciplined, and outscored by the well-coached, disciplined and determined Eagles' squad, who played without two of their top five defensemen and set aside personal agendas for the betterment of their Team. The Mavs PK was a lone bright spot for Milford, as they successfully killed off two five-minute major penalties, nearly a period's worth of short handedness, not an ideal position to be in when you're looking to repeat as Conference Champions and needed the victory to stay in contention. Lakeland tendy Paul Baker earned the shutout with 23 saves, including a left pad kick save on a Penalty Shot while the score was 2-0 to kill potential Mav momentum early in the second. Milford's Cooper Langley finished with 41 saves while giving his teammates a

Boys Varsity Ice HockeySenior Captain Jack Clickett scored in barrels netting four goals in the last half of the game Monday night against league foe Walled Lake Northern (7-9-2) leading the Mavs to a tight 6-4 win. The Knights took a 2-0 lead after just seven minutes on goals from Sean Ahrens and Andrew Evans before Sophomore Alex Kozar sniped his first of two goals to make it 2-1 after one period. Evans struck again just 30 seconds into the second to make it 3-1 before Kozar answered four minutes later to draw the Mavs (12-8) within one. The rest of the game was the Captain Clicks show as he scored two to make it 4-3 Mavs after two periods and followed with another deuce in the third, including an empty netter with 36 seconds remaining to complete the scoring. Milford tendy Cooper Langley finished with 35 saves, including a couple of beauts in the last minute of the game as the Mavs fought off an undisciplined, late game, two minute head check penalty. Boys Varsity Ice HockeyThe Mavs won by a nose in a thrilling OT Shootout 4-3 Saturday afternoon over West Ottawa (8-10) at The MPHSH in Chelsea. Milford went into the third period down 3-2 before Ryan Okragly pounded home a rebound off a Jack Clickett shot just 36 seconds after puck drop to knot the score at three. The Mavs went on a Power Play with 1:40 left, but were unable to generate any quality scoring chances. The Panthers, on the other hand, had a shorthanded breakaway with under a minute to go that Milford tendy Cooper Langley steered aside to keep the game even. In the event of a tie after regulation, The Showcase used a three man shootout instead of the usual 8 minute sudden death OT session to determine the winner. The Mavs elected to shoot first with team point leader Clickett rattling the post and in glove side on the WO tendy before the Mav's second shooter Will Fulton faked a shot forcing the WO goalie to drop before

Boys Varsity Ice HockeyThe Mavs came ready to race Saturday afternoon against Father Gabriel Richard/Greenhills Irish, but came up a couple noses short against the talented Irish, a team that Milford had beaten the past three seasons. The Irish led 1-0 after one period and stretched their lead to 4-0 lead early in the third before the Mavs Joe 'Hollywood' Meagher filled boardpad farside off of a wall-to-wall feed from Sophomore Alex Kozar, who was glad to be back in the lineup after a two game absence, giving the Mavs some hope with plenty of game to go. But AAGR/Greenhills scored back-to-back-to-back goals to give the Irish a comfortable lead before Senior Captain Jack Clickett banged in a PP rebound goal with help from Will Fulton and Kozar to complete the scoring. The Mavs host the FNV Griffins Wednesday 6PM at Hartland and would love to see the Mav Maniacs gettin' nutty supporting their classmates!

Boys Varsity Ice HockeyThe Mav's four game winning streak came to a screeching halt as the Ann Arbor River Rats beat Milford 2-1 in OT Friday night at the Ann Arbor Ice Cube. Senior Captain Jack Clickett scored a short handed beauty while sliding on his knees after being hauled down by a Rat's defender with just under two minutes remaining in the second period to tie it up 1-1 going into the third. Mav tendy Cooper Langley was busy with 34 saves on the night and gave his teammates a chance for the win over the hard working Ann Arbor club who ended the game halfway through the eight minute OT session for their seventh win of the season. Boys Varsity Ice HockeyCaptain Jack Clickett continued his intense goal scoring streak with his second four goal outburst in the past three games leading the Mavs to a nail-biting 6-5 win over the KLAA Conference Canton Chiefs Saturday night in Canton. Clickett lasered two third period twine ticklers that erased Canton's 5-4 lead after two stanzas and gave the Mavs their third win in a row and seventh in their past eight games. Milford killed off six Canton Power Play opportunities, thanks to Mav tendy Cooper Langley, who finished with 36 saves and Milford's solid defensive core of Captain Shane Quinn, Alternate Captain Thomas Kennedy IV, Alternate Captain Stevan Vujic, Junior Brady Flanigan and Sophomore Matthew Menzies. Boys Varsity Ice HockeyJunior Stevan Vujic bombed a blue line seed, board pad far side, by Lakes Area Unified's tough tendy Tyler Long with just under three minutes remaining in the third, which turned out to be the game winning goal Wednesday night in Milford's 2-1 victory over the Unified team consisting of Waterford's Mott and Kettering, Walled Lake Central and West Bloomfield. Freshmen Craig Borges and Sophomore Alex Kozar assisted on Vujic's game winning one-timer. Senior Jack Clickett sniped a breakaway goal 24 seconds into the third to give the Mavs a 1-0 advantage after two scoreless periods that featured outstanding goaltending by both Milford's Cooper Langley and Lakes Area's Long, former Lakeland Travel teammates. Lakes Area's Jake Shottroff pulled his team within one goal with 1:18 left with Lakes Area remaining on a Power Play, but Langley and his Mavs were able to close out the exciting contest. T

Boys Varsity Ice HockeyCaptain Jack Clickett erupted for four goals Saturday night to lead the Mavs to a gritty 5-2 victory over the Walled Lake Western/Pinckney Unified Warriors (6-3-1) in Milford's first tilt of 2023, avenging the Warriors win over the Mavs sixteen days earlier to close out 2022. Captain Jack paced the Mavs to a 1-0 lead late in the first before the Warriors tied it up halfway through the second to set up an exciting third period of puck. Mav Senior Ryan Okragly, who makes a living scoring dirty, doghouse area rebound goals, ala the 70's Hall of Famer Phil Esposito, set the pace in the third for Milford with his second ESPN Top Ten highlight reel snipe of the season and his 14th overall just 20 seconds into the third for a 2-1 Mav lead. Clicks continued his goal scoring rampage twining the next three Milford (7-6) goals, including his team leading 15th total, to keep the contest from being a photo

Boys Varsity Ice HockeyWalled Lake Western/Pinckney Unified had a firm grip on the reins, held tight to the bit and put an end to the Maverick's four game winning streak with a well-executed 7-2 victory Wednesday night at Hartland. Milford held a 2-1 lead after one period with Alex Kozar scoring with an assist to Craig Borges before Junior Griffin Cook netted his first career high school goal with an unassisted tally late in the first. Cook's goal was the last the time the Mavs would light the lamp, even though they had three clear breakaways and many good chances throughout the remainder of the contest. The fast and skilled Unifieds peppered Mav tendy Cooper Langley with 38 tota shots and scored their seventh goal on an empty Milford net with 2:36 to go. The game was tight, despite the lopsided score, and the Mavs have a lot to be proud of, winning four of five games in a tough eight day stretch that would test any hockey team's

Boys Varsity Ice HockeyThe Mavs stayed hot despite a lackluster and alarmingly undisciplined first period to win their fourth in a row over the Genesee Generals Monday evening at the beautiful Dort Financial Center in Flint, home of the OHL's Flint Firebirds. Caleb Simpson gave the Generals the lead late in the first on a Power Play goal before Milford (6-5) answered with two quick 4v3 Power Play goals of their own to start the second period, Sophomore Alex Kozar from Thomas Kennedy IV and Freshmen Craig Borges from Kozar just 30 seconds apart to flip the script for a Milford 2-1 lead. Captain Jack Clickett sniped a PP goal with assists from Ryan Okragly and Kennedy IV with just over a minute remaining in the contest before Clicks finished it off with an Open Netter with 36 seconds left to complete the scoring. Cooper Langley made 28 saves for Milford, including a huge right pad kick save on a deflection late in the third to keep the Generals from knotting the game at two.

Boys Varsity Ice HockeyThe Mavs picked up their third win a row and second in as many nights with a hard fought 5-2 victory over LVC Conference foe Lakes Area Saturday night at Lakeland. LA scored first just four minutes into the contest before Milford's Will Fulton answered with an assist from Joe "Hollywood" Meagher a couple minutes later followed by Captain Jack Clickett's Power Play goal, with help from Alex Kozar and Fulton halfway through the first, to stake the Mavs to a lead they'd never relinquish. Senior Thomas Kennedy IV scored on the empty LA net with 45 seconds to go to make it 5-2 and ice the game. Four year DMan Kennedy IV banked a shot from the top of Milford's own zone circle top into the unguarded LA net, a Minnesota Fats feat, which was a beautiful thing considering the Mav's emphasis on using the seventh man. Multisport star 'IV' was awarded the "Chain' for his stellar defensive effort,&nbs

Sophomore Will Fulton lit up the score sheet with 2 goals and 4 assists, a rare 6 point night, which earned him the Mav of The Game 'Chain.' Freshmen Craig Borges got the Mavs rolling with a quick release snipe from the slot with six minutes remaining in the first, the first of five consecutive goals for Milford. SLU's Ethan Daugherty made it 5-1 before crafty Krags did his best Pele' imitation with a redirect off of a Brady Flanigan shot to extend Milford's lead to five and followed two minutes later with a rebound fill to

Milford's special teams were hot with four Power Play goals and two Shortys in the non-conference game against a well-coached, but undermanned Patriot club that only had ten skaters to Milford's thirteen players. Mav Sophomore backup tendy Jesse Lee experienced his first regular season game action and made eight saves on ten shots while holding down the fort in the third period, to the the delight of his teammates and especially his goaltending Brother, Cooper Langley, who continued his own focused and stellar play with nineteen saves without a goal during the first two frames.
