It was a special night for the Combs Cousins, as Junior Austin garnered his 100th point in his second season as a Maverick, and Sophomore Tucker sniped his first goal of the season to help lead Milford over the Bay Area Thunder Saturday night at Hartland.
Fourteen different Mav skaters factored in the scoring. Captain Ben Kozar had three goals and an assist, Tristan Ingram-Reeve had two and two, Kazuma Bowring dished three apples, Mack Musialowski notched the Mav's first goal and had two helpers, Austin Combs had one and one, James Pennebaker, Josh Raya and Tucker Combs each scored and Ryan Hanlin, Shane Quinn, Luke McIntyre, Pierce Ashcroft, Adam Moule and Tyler Tori all had assists.
Milford managed 53 shots at Thunder goaltender Toby Pobanz, who made many miraculous saves to keep Bay City in the game before the mercy rule was applied with just over five minutes remaining in the third.
Mav Sophomore tendy Harris Partyka finished with 15 saves on 17 shots and picked up his third win of the season.
Milford played a penalty free game despite being on the receiving end of a few after the whistle and unsuspecting blindside hits, which is indicative of the Mav's tough and disciplined demeanor.
Milford Hockey would like to thank volunteer, in game scorekeeper officials Jason Chaldecott and Mark Osinski for their support of Milford Hockey and their excellent game day work as well as Milford Freshmen Charlotte Bontrager for her singing of The Star-Spangled Banner to help get the boys fired up at home games.
The Mavericks host the M-1 Griffins next Saturday at 7:30PM. The final home game of the season will also be Senior Night to honor our four graduating Seniors.
Please c'mon out to say goodbye to our Seniors and to cheer on your hockey Team, Saturday the 15th, as Milford continues to prepare for a much anticipated Regional rematch with Cranbrook February 26.
