Huron Valley United Gymnastics hosted the biggest high school invite in the state on Saturday with 20 teams competing. HVU came in 3rd place behind defending state champs, Farmington United and the Fowlerville- Byron- Pinkney- Perry team. The 3rd place score was a 140.825. The team had a solid day led by two Lakeland gymnasts, senior Rachel Palaian and junior Nicole Graham. They both placed in all events and all-around. Rachel placed 4th all around in the D1 category with a 35.150. Nicole placed 1st all-around with a 36.225 in the D2 category. IA sophomore, Maeve Spicer had an amazing bar routine scoring a 9.175 and earning her 3rd place and Milford junior, Laura Nowicki won the floor event by placing first and scoring a 9.425.
