The Mavs won their second game in a row, a decisive 7-0 shutout over the host Sault Ste. Marie Blue Devils in the championship play in game Friday night at the Chi Mukwa Ice Arena in Sault Ste. Marie.

Milford was led by Junior Austin Combs with 2 goals and 2 assists and Senior Captain Ben Kozar with 2 goals.  Comb's Gold Line line mate, Freshmen Mack Musialowski, had a goal and two assists and fellow Goldy Sophomore Pierce Ashcroft chipped in with one and one.  Junior Liam Markell scored his first of the season while sliding on his back in the third period to close out the scoring for the Mavs.  Senior Captain Tyler Tori added an assist while continuing his aggressive and productive play.

The defensive unit of Kaz Bowring, Dom Leto, Adam Moule, Nick Bow, Brendan Engle, Shane Quinn, Ryan Hanlin and Quentin Daniere played with poise and aggression, setting the stage for effective Ozone entries with sharp breakout passes.

Senior tendy Tyler Kerr made 15 saves in the first two periods before giving way to Sophomore Harris Partyka, who made 6 saves in the third to preserve the shutout, the Mavs first combined shutout in over a decade.

Milford takes on a rugged, veteran Big Rapids Cardinals squad Saturday at 1PM for the Championship Game of the 20th Annual Soo Elks Showcase before returning home Sunday afternoon after enjoying some UP flavor.
