GAME SUMMARYAustin Combs pumped in four goals to lead the Mavs to a hard fought 6-4 victory over the rugged and determined Walled Lake Western Warriors Saturday night at KVIH. Milford (6-2) scored four goals in the first period, with Combs starting the festivities off just 17 seconds after puck drop off a feed from Gold linemate Pierce Ashcroft. Junior Combs netted two power play goals late in the first for the natural hat trick with assists from lineys Mack (Moose) Musialowski and Ashcroft, along with an assist from Kaz Bowring, who finished the night with two apples as he quarterbacked the power play with efficient precision. Senior Captain Ben Kozar netted his sixth of the season 25 seconds after Combs natural hatty with assists from Liam Markell and Tyler Tori to give the Mavs a 4-1 lead after one. The Mavs scored twice in the second, Moose Musialowski unassisted and Combs' fourth from Bowring for the Mavs third PP goal of the game to stake Milford to a seemingly comfortable 6-1 lead after two. But the Warriors kept up the good fight and scored three third period goals to make a game of it, with Jeff Petruno finishing the night with two goals for Western. Milford's Tyler Kerr made 37 saves for the victory, his fifth of the season. The Mavs were again well represented by the MavManiacs and the Mav Faithful as the Milford crowd substantially outnumbered Western's fan base, helping to spur Milford to victory. The Mavs host LVC foe and rival Lakeland Monday 7PM at Hartland.
