Thursday 12/05/2019 @ 7:00 PM(A) vs South Lyon High School
|Milford High School||1|
|South Lyon High School||7|
GAME SUMMARYThe Mavs came up a furlong short against defending LVC league champs South Lyon Unified, a combined team consisting of players from both South Lyon high schools, 7-1, Thursday night at Brighton. South Lyon scored three short handed goals which was the difference in the evenly played game. Tyler Kerr continued his strong net play for the Mavs with 29 saves, while SLU's Andrew Lowen made 25 saves for the win. Liam Markell scored his fourth goal of the season, a power play snipe from the right faceoff dot off a pass through the 'royal road' from Ben Kozar with a secondary assist to Austin Combs. SLU amassed 17 penalties to the Mavs' 7, but Milford was unable to capitalize enough on the man advantage, despite several good scoring chances during the PP. The MavManiacs were in full force along with the Mav Faithful and were definitely the livelier and more enthusiastic of a big crowd that saw plenty of entertaining hockey action. "They're a tough, physical team that took it to us in the first. We came back strong in the second and took it to them, but they banged home three goals in under a minute at the end of the second that did us in," said fourth year Coach Gagnon. "This is a game we'll learn from and get better." Milford travels to Brighton for a Saturday night tilt against Lakes Valley Conference foe Walled Lake Western, 7:30 puck drop at KVIH. There may even be a jersey or six given out to our boisterous traveling MavManiac Student Section at nearby Brighton Saturday night. C'mon out! Thank you for your support and Go Mavs!
