It was an outstanding weekend on the water for Milford High School rowers Allie and Avery, who delivered impressive performances at two competitive regattas, bringing home multiple first- and second-place finishes. At the Arctic Classic Regatta, Allie and Avery helped lead their Women's 2V/Junior 8+ boat to a first-place finish. The victory was especially impressive for Allie, who began rowing just one month ago and is already experiencing success on the water. Avery added another strong performance at the Arctic Classic, helping her 2V/Junior 4+ boat earn a second-place finish. The success began on Saturday at the Heron Henley Challenge Regatta, where Avery's 2V/Junior 4+ boat captured first place in a competitive field of 26 teams. Beyond the medals and impressive finishes, the weekend was another exciting step forward for rowing in the Milford community. Although rowing is not currently an official Milford High School athletic program, Allie and Avery continue to represent the Mavericks with pride while competing with the Northville rowing program. In another special moment, Allie was surprised by her Northville teammates with a senior banner recognizing her dedication and participation in the sport—a tremendous gesture that highlights the friendships and camaraderie rowing creates. Interest in rowing continues to grow in the Milford community, with plans underway for a spring rowing informational session in December or January.
